Welcome to Bacup. The village is approximately 2.5 miles East of Rawtenstall and has a wealth of history, dating back before the times when it was a major industrial hub producing cotton and footwear. Although the cotton spinning has now gone, there are still footwear manufacturers in the Valley, with some of the major companies still resident in Bacup. At one time the footwear industry employed over 10,000 people.
Over the next weeks and months, we will be adding more and more businesses to the website. The idea is simple. If you have a business and want to promote to the residents of Bacup or throughout the valley, you can do so right here. It will be 100% Mobile Friendly, and we'll be writing professional descriptions about each of the companies who will be featuring on the site. There will be other sites with the same URL (.info) ending across the North West of England, eventually creating a network link across a wide range of different professions and areas. Once completed, there will be various categories to choose from and the site navigation will be simple and easy. At least you won't have to enter your postcode, which incidentally for Bacup is OL13. It comes under the Borough of Rossendale and has an Oldham postcode. The image above of the town centre, gives you a good idea of just how many other towns it connects to. Head North and you're in Burnley, East and over the Pennine moors into West Yorkshire and you are in Todmorden, or follow the road South and you'll soon be in Rochdale. Manchester is less than an hour away.
